Long Term Supply
With Thames Teachers if you are working in an assignment for 6 weeks or longer you will be classified as a long term supply teacher and receive the long term supply teacher rate which will be higher as it reflects the extra commitment.
Schools generally book long term supply for one term at a time with many contracts lasting the full academic year if you’re both in agreement.
It is important to plan your arrival time based on the academic year and term dates. This may differ from your country so make note of the terms below. Schools plan ahead, as should you.
September – December
Schools generally interview for these roles before the Summer holidays in July. Thames Teachers is usually very busy over the months of June and July arranging face to face, skype and telephone interviews with candidates in London and across the globe.
January – April
This is the busiest term with teachers arriving from Australia. We have a wide range of jobs to choose from during this period as it’s also a very busy time for our schools.
April – July / August
Teachers usually remain in their jobs during this time of year as it can be a quieter term for daily supply bookings. It’s a great time of year to gain some valuable long term experience which looks impressive on your CV and will further your chances of being short-listed for good teaching opportunities in September.
